Statistically possible?

Is it statistically possible that with the seemingly never-ending size of the universe, and all of the planets believed to be capable of sustaining life, that there is not only intelligent life, but intelligent life VERY much like ourselves (physically, and structurally)? In a sense, could there be what would appear to be alternate versions of Earth due to the fact that there are so many Earth like planets, including the ones we've seen, and the many we haven't?
