Should I be worried about this guy?

I had a bad relationship where I hurt this guy I cared about very much. I was angry with him and I never got a chance to apologize. He just shut me out of his life. To a certain degree, I haven't gotten over him. Lets call him Jack. My friends were talking about how they saw Jack at a baseball game and he reeked of booze. This is unusual for Jack. He drinks very lightly and never gets actually drunk. Maybe he was just having a good time. I hope that he isn't as hurt by the whole thing as I am. I would like to apologize to him, but only if he hasn't shoved it out of his mind. In that case, I don't want to bring up the whole thing because that means he seriously doesn't want to talk to me. I could get in trouble for harassment if I talk to him when he doesn't want to see me. The situation is that intense.
